Striking Morenci turquoise bear claw with eight hand-formed/stamped caresing, creating a shadow box frame. A gem-grade Morenci stone of triangular shape sits in a fine serrated bezel, and bursting through its glass surface is iron pyrite.
The famous Morenci turquoise mine located in Arizona was shut down in the 1980s, when the large-scale copper mining operation that owned the property decided to cease turquoise recovery in favor of copper.
Complementing the substantial setting. The hand-wrought silver bars taper to a round gap. A pair of thick and stamped vertical bars accentuates the frontal view, along with lovely, large silver raindrops. The silver feels smooth and old. The patina is original and alluring to the eye. Note the ribbed lines formed when silver bars were hand-wrought. No marks, old pawn.
