This Navajo cuff was signed by silversmith Mike Platero, active 1965. It features four gem-grade Bisbee turquoise cabochons, each framed in hand-cut serrated bezels. Silver leaves and raindrops accent the stones, completing a balanced design that reflects mid-20th century Navajo craftsmanship.
Bisbee turquoise, famed for its deep blue hues and smoky matrix, comes from the famed Copper Queen Mine in Bisbee, Arizona. By the late 1970s to early 1980s, large-scale turquoise recovery had effectively ceased as copper operations wound down, and no new material has been mined since.
The cuff is hand-wrought from heavy sterling silver, with substantial weight and presence on the wrist. Its untouched pawn patina enhances the depth of the turquoise.
